HISTORY
The Partnership was organized in 1994 by the Central City Economic Opportunity Corporation (CCEOC) for the purpose of strategic planning and development of a neighborhood collaborative to facilitate Enterprise Foundation assistance and other national funding sources. The Partnership also served as the requisite community governance structure for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funded City of New Orleans Enterprise Community initiative. Since its inception, the Partnership has developed into a community governance structure to facilitate and promote the revitalization of the Central City neighborhood.
In 1997 the second strategic plan for the Partnership was developed. The initial plan focused Partnership efforts in five key areas: economic development, housing, education, crime and violence, and health care. As a result of the plan development, the Partnership structured five working committees -- one for each strategy area -- with responsibility for achieving the goals of the plan. The plan was reviewed in November of 1998 in a process that resulted in a set of milestones and performance targets from which the organization could measure its effectiveness relative to the strategic goals. The 1999 Strategic Plan Review was held on November 13, 1999 and designed as a forum for analysis of the structural effectiveness of the Partnership relative to achievement of the strategic goals and the continuous improvement of the organization. The Strategic Plan was last reviewed and revised in February 2007 to reflect the changing approaches employed by the organization as it remains true to its mission and vision.
